Abstract: More than mere essential characteristic of the Chinese-style modernization, harmonious coexistence of man and nature is the intrinsic requirement for the construction of a modern socialist country in an all-round way. Harmonious coexistence of man and nature is a notion set under the perspective of modernization. Its scientific connotation, therefore, contains the ideas of guidance of coexistence of man and nature, pursuit for shared glory between man and nature, and the inspiration of construction of a beautiful China. At the current stage of development, the concept of harmonious coexistence of man and nature harbors the rationale of its theoretic innovation, the value of concern for the vast majority of people, the civilized sentiment of concern for oneself then the family and finally the whole nation, and the international significance of fairness and justice. The theory of “modernization of harmonious coexistence of man and nature” is thus widely recognized and endowed with great vigor. To promote modernization of harmonious existence of man and nature in the new era, it is necessary that systematic governance in terms of complete, overall and connective thinking be adhered to on the one hand and breakthroughs be made in key areas on the other.
