Abstract: The lysyl oxidase (LOX) family consists of LOX and four LOX-like proteins (LOXL1, LOXL2, LOXL3, and LOXL4) that act mainly in the remodeling of the extra cellular matrix (ECM) and the cross-linking of collagen and elastic fibers. As the second most common cancer worldwide, lung cancer ranks second in incidence (second only to breast cancer) and first in mortality rate. Recently, an increasing number of studies have shown that the LOX family is closely associated with the regulation of cancer cell proliferation, migration, invasion and metastasis. This review mainly presents the mechanism and research progress of each member of the LOX family in the occurrence and progression of lung cancer.

Key words: lysyl oxidase family, extracellular matrix (ECM), lung cancer, occurrence and development
