佤语“姐姐”亲属称谓“rōng”一词考释

摘要： 结合语言学和民族学研究方法,通过对沧源班考、南撒等地区佤族关于“姐姐”亲属称谓的田野调查分析比较,佤语中“姐姐”亲属称谓“rōng”一词应源自“rōng”的本义“树的主干”。该词引申指主持家业的有威望的中心人物或具有特殊作用的事物,用于“姐姐”称谓是佤族母系氏族社会现象的残遗。

Abstract: Through linguistic, ethnological and comparative study on the term rōng, or sister, of the Wa language in Bankao and Nansa, Cangyuan County, this paper holds that rōng (a term for “elder sister” in the Wa language) is derived from the rōng originally meaning “trunk of a tree”. As a figurative expression connoting an essential bread-earning and authoritative member in a family used to refer to elder sister, rōng is a matriarchal sign of the ancient Wa society.
