Abstract: Kenyan writer Ngũgĩ wa Thiong’o (1938–; 2025) has consistently adhered to a writing strategy of “rewriting colonial history,” using literary narrative to reconstruct the spiritual landscape of Kenya’s anti-colonial history. His works break through the linear narrative logic of anti-colonial history, integrating spatial consciousness into their literary context, thus constructing a heterogeneous paradigm of anti-colonial literary writing. Understanding the deep isomorphic relationship between literary space and colonial history in his works and grasping the literary metaphors in his spatial writing can provide an important entry point and perspective for interpreting his anti-colonial narrative strategy. Examining his spatial writing through his three representative works–The River Between, Petals of Blood and Wizard of the Crow–and constructing a triple spatial form of family-village-nation can help understand his literary reconstruction of the Kenyan national living space during the colonial period. This spatial writing paradigm not only expands the depth and breadth of the colonial history depicted in his works but also provides an important model for world anti-colonial literature from the perspective of global justice and the diversity of human civilization.
