Abstract: On the basis of the language background of Lu Xun's era, with Wild Grass as the research center, through the way of close reading, with the aid of linguistic theories, and from the angle of language rhetoric art of Wild Grass, this article first shows Lu Xun's independent consciousness of developing possibility of the Chinese language, then proceeds to examine the instrumental elements of Lu Xun's language from the musical traits in the language of Wild Grass and the linguist concept of his essays before finally coming to the conclusion that Lu Xun's language consciousness is contradictory and he soberly regarded his own literary language as “language intermediate“.
