Theoretic Analysis and Implementation Path of Application of Classic Reading–Based on the Teaching Perspective of the Course The Basic Principles of Marxism

Abstract: The classic works of Marxism contain and embody the basic principles of Marxism, which are the foundation and source of Marxist theory. Reading them closely makes sure you reach the source fountain to lay a solid foundation. The Basic Principles of Marxism is a course focusing on systematic presentation of the positions, points and methods of Marxism. When applying classic reading to teaching the course, a principle of unity in four aspects should be observed–unity between teacher-led demonstration and self-study of the students, unity between classroom discussion and after-class learning, unity between focus on both intensive reading and extensive browsing, and unity between understanding of classical theory and innovative development–in addition to the construction of the classic mode comprising guided reading of the teacher, reading of the students and commenting of both the teacher and the students. To achieve these goals, a number of measures should be taken to enhance reading effect and teaching quality, including scientific choice of articles, methodical organization of reading activities, intensified after-class supervision and assistance, and optimized evaluation method.
