Abstract: The social contribution of Indonesian Chinese cannot be underestimated. The portrayal and representation of ethnic issues by Indonesian Chinese writers not only serve as reference and reflection on history, but also show practical significance in the current context. In the writing of ethnic communication, these writers often express the sincere voices of Indonesian Chinese, emphasizing equal communication and friendly mutual assistance among different ethnic groups. On the one hand, they have cultural identity with their own blood; on the other hand, they also actively integrate into the political identity of Indonesia and engage in trans-ethnic empathic perspective-taking. This reflects their multi-dimensional attempts in the writing of ethnic communication. From imagination and examination of the Pribumi to posture adjustment in cross-ethnic marriage, and then to the harmonious construction of friendly ethnic relationships, various communication forms provide possible paths for positive interaction between ethnic groups. Amongst others, Zhong Ruochi’s internalization and integration of local and Chinese characteristics can be regarded as a model for the writing of ethnic communication.
