Abstract: Around the World on Horseback by Helen, Human World News by Lee Heat, Neigh by Lu Wing and White Bear by Surot won the 12th Horse Awards. In realism and in illusory, in backgrounds of pasture, towns and metropolis, these four works highlight the following notions: 1) the game between the Confucian culture of power and modern people in the traditional Chinese culture; 2) the dispute between power and belief in officialdom literature; and 3) the dual defiance of both things and people in the power discourse. Perceiving both power and discourse and feeling their main-body psychological defense mechanism consolidated, writers of minority ethnic groups uphold their true selves while unconsciously revealing their adherence to their true selves in the context of history, culture and modern life.
