Abstract: Chinese poetic techniques fu, bi and xing, meaning description, simile and association respectively, represent characteristics, development route and levels of primitive thinking as well as the thinking process from concrete presentation to phenomena of discovery of similarities and then association between them. Of the three, xing means “overall analogy” or “symbolism” to be exact. Due to special poetic practice and cultural tradition, it is also used to start a composition for phonetic purposes. It therefore represents universality and high levels of thinking on the one hand and typical Chinese poetic expression and thinking on the other.
