Abstract: Transmitted through ceremonies marking birth, wedding, funeral and other events, the ancient Yi ballads have been loved and participated in by the Yi people as enjoyable recreation activities. In addition to being a form of irreplaceable spiritual consumption for centuries, they have the functions to impart knowledge and teach moral lessons. They are a unique form of intangible cultural heritage.
