Abstract: As a branch of history, environmental history has developed in line with the "new liberal arts", which advocates the intersection of literature and science and the integration of innovation. At present, Chinese environmental history is blossoming under the exploration of Chinese and Western scholars, but there is a tendency for the discipline to solidify in specific studies, and the development of the discipline is facing challenges. In this context, Zhou Qiong and Geng Jin's An Outline of Chinese Environmental History is a culmination of the authors’ years of teaching experience in the form of a textbook on environmental history with Chinese characteristics. The book, not only sorting out the historical and environmental changes in China but also achieving the correctness of the genre structure and specific cases, as well as the innovation of the research perspective, content structure and academic interests, complements the long-standing gaps in previous textbooks on the general history of China's environment and sufficiently reflects the exploration and practice of multidisciplinary interaction in the context of the construction of the “New Liberal Arts”.
