Abstract: Landscapes relate legends or, to be more exact, they are images and processes of birth of legends that provoke historical imagination and cultural reflection by presenting legend elements. Moreover, legends introduce certain spiritual connotation and symbolic significance into landscapes, giving the latter magic and divine views. Combination of landscape and legend can induce cultural identification and thus facilitating construction of unique regional cultural spirit.

Key words: landscape narrative of Xiandongguo, legend of Emperor Yao, regional spirit, fusion, mutual construction
