Abstract: Dingling's “Xiacun experience” is self-centered, contemporary and firm. Selfhood refers to the fact that Zhen Zhen was captured by the Japanese army, which is very similar to Ding Ling's own experience of being arrested and imprisoned in Nanjing. After Ding Ling was released from prison, many people saw Ding Ling in a very similar way, which made Ding Ling very painful. Contemporariness refers to the fact that Ding Ling was criticized repeatedly after the founding of the People’s Republic of China, and even regarded as an “anti-Party member”, “right-party member” and “left-Party member”. The reason lies in some people's residual consciousness of feudalism. Firmness refers to the fact that Ding Ling never lost hope of life even in adversity.

Key words: Ding Ling, “Xiacun experience”, Zhen Zhen, selfhood, contemporaneity, firmness
