Abstract: The development of digital visual elements activates the formal ideogram features contained in images, which not only gives viewers visual pleasure, but also promotes the image shift of patriotic discourse from the perspective of visual reconstruction. In essence, the iconographic turn of patriotic discourse unfolds in the tension formed by various contradictions, including the metaphorical tension of the real and the implicit, the narrative tension of figuration and abstraction, and the symbolic tension of thought and entertainment. To promote the image transformation of patriotic discourse, it is necessary to start from three aspects: activating the temporal and spatial meaning of image resources, optimizing the discourse expression of image narrative, and improving the image literacy of the subject of discourse.
