Abstract: To investigate bacteria associated with pseudobulb disease of Cremastra appendiculata and the genetic characteristics of their potential interaction with the host, an endophytic bacterial strain was isolated from diseased pseudobulb tissues collected in Chuxiong, Yunnan Province. The taxonomic status of this endophyte was determined through phenotypic characterization, 16S rDNA sequencing and whole-genome sequence analysis. The results showed that the strain N-EI, isolated from the diseased C. appendiculata tissue, is Brevibacterium sediminis. Whole-genome sequencing revealed that strain N-EI has a genome size of 4299738 bp, with a total of 3817 predicted genes. Notably, the genome of strain N-EI harbors 58 common virulence factor-associated genes and 211 plant interaction-related genes. The synergistic effects of these genes may be associated with the pathogenesis of the pseudobulb disease.

Key words: Cremastra appendiculata, pseudobulb, endophytic bacterium, whole-genome analysis
