Corrosion Inhibition of Laurel Leaf Extract on A3 Steel in H2SO4 Solution

Abstract: Plant extract from bay leaf is an excellent and natural environment-friendly corrosion inhibitor.In this experiment,weight loss and electrochemical tests were employed to investigate the inhibition effect of bay leaf extract in 0.2 M sulfuric acid medium.The results show that the bay leaf extract has an inhibition efficiency of up to 92% on the carbon steel corrosion in 0.2M sulfuric acid medium.The adsorption on the steel surface conforms to the corrected Langmuir adsorption isotherm,which can simultaneously suppress the negative and positive processes of carbon steel corrosion.Metalloscope results also show that bay leaf extract can effectively inhibit carbon steel corrosion.
