Abstract: Folk custom regarding the Dragon Boat Festival recorded in the old local Chronicles of Yunnan has some differences from those of the mainstream Han culture. The shape of mugwort had appeared in different shapes, such as “tiger,” “human,” “dog” and “quan”. Among them, “mugwort like a dog” is the development and change of “mugwort like a tiger” combined with the local cultural reality. “quan-shaped mugwort” is the representation of “Tianshi-shaped mugwort” hidden behind “humanoid mugwort”. On the diet, flour was retained. This reflects the development and evolution of zongzi history and the exchange and collision between different food cultures.

Key words: local chronicle of Yunnan, Dragon Boat Festival, the shape of Mugwort, eating “flour food”
