Abstract: Areas inhabited by minority ethnic groups are characterized by under-developed economy, complex geographical relations, diverse cultures and uneven education, presenting both opportunities and challenges to the construction of socialist core values. Constructing socialist core values is extremely important to the economic development, political identity and cultural integration of ethnic minority areas. The outstanding achievements of Diqing Tibaten Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province in national unity and progress are closely related to the effective construction of socialist core values in the area. The “Diqing Experience” has brought beneficial enlightenment to the construction of socialist core values in other minority areas in China, such as incorporating core values into all work, adhering to the Party's core leadership, strengthening political identity, strengthening the leadership and innovation of the core values for minority cultures, strengthening the awareness of the Chinese national community, and enhancing the endogenous power of constructing core values through education.
