Abstract: In Chun Qiu Ji Jie, Su Zhe elaborates his thought of respecting the monarch and caring for the people. By respecting the monarch, Su Zhe emphasizes the identity of the emperor as the sole sovereign and declares his opposition to usurping the throne, killing the monarch and other disloyal acts. By caring for the people, Su Zhe proposes his theory of relativity of monarchical power and the idea of people first. Such ideas of his as revealed in Chun Qiu Ji Jie comprise an important part of the Confucian doctrines of the Song Dynasty (960-1279), especially those of the Sichuan school of thought that arguably best reflect the canonical characteristics of the philosophy in general of Sichuan intellectuals.
