Investigation and Analysis of Eyesight Condition of College Students from a University in Yunnan Province

Abstract: This paper, aiming at understanding eyesight condition of college students from a university in Yunnan Province, provides reference data for preventing the continued decline of the students' eyesight. Eyesight of a total of 8520 students of classes 2017, 2018, 2019 were tested, then the results were statistically analyzed. The rate of poor eye sight is 87.3%, and the severe poor vision detection rates is 67.3%. The rate of poor eye sight of girls is higher than that of boys. The condition of students’ eyesight in different grades fluctuates. The rate of poor eye sight of science student is higher than that of liberal arts students. The difference for eye sight between the Han and other minorities is not statistically significant. The rate of poor-eyesight students from other provinces is higher than that of students of Yunnan province. The problem of eye sight should be highly valued and measures should be taken to improve the health level of students' eyesight by all sectors of society, universities, families and the students themselves.
