Abstract: To enjoy good food is an important part of touring a place. Food-themed tourism as a business, therefore, is sure to germinate and bloom, if not already. Hangzhou is fortunate in this aspect as it has rich, distinctive local culinary resources. These resources, however, are yet to make adequate contribution to Hangzhou’s tourism prosperity, a fact under continuous cyber-criticism currently. Moreover, lack of experiencing channels and heavyweight IPs makes the situation worse. After analyzing the existing problems, the article, with the Hundred-County-Thousand-Dish Project rolling out and the XIX Asiad on the horizon, makes suggestions pertinent to promoting culinary tourism of Hangzhou through industrial standardization, launch of culinary tourism products for experience and creation of food IPs, so as to provide more culinary experience chances to tourists attracted by the Asiad. In this way, the local economy in general will be boosted to make Hangzhou a demonstration zone of common prosperity.
