Abstract: The identity change of the minority writers in southwest China is closely related to the historical ethnic migration and the contemporary population flow. From the historical context, more than half of the ethnic minorities living in southwest China have had large-scale migration activities, and the migration memory has become an important symbol of the identification of the group. From the perspective of current development, the flow of urban and rural population in southwest China is increasingly frequent. Ethnic minority writers, as a part of the contemporary urban population migration wave, thus form a new migration memory. The two different migration memories constructed three different cultural spaces of spiritual hometown, real hometown and urban township, and directly promoted the development trend of the identity of contemporary ethnic minority writers in southwest China from unity to pluralism.
Key words: contemporary southwest China, minority writer, migration memory, identity, cultural space
