Abstract: Since the 18th CPC National Congress, the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core has attached great importance to education, prioritizing education as a strategic cornerstone for national development and enacting landmark policies to accelerate educational modernization so as to build China into a leading educational nation. Ideological and political education constitutes a vital component of holistic education, bearing the epochal mission of fostering virtue and cultivating souls. Its modernization represents both an imperative requirement and an inevitable trend in educational modernization. In Politics, Aristotle discussed and analyzed the philosophy, methodologies, content, objectives and other core topics of education. Although his ideas are subject to historical inherent limitations as they are rooted in ancient Greek slave society, a nuanced understanding of their rational kernel remains pragmatically enlightening for advancing the modernization of ideological and political education today. In view of this, clarifying the core tenets of Aristotle's educational thought and conducting an in-depth examination of the connotations, key elements, and functions of ideological and political education modernization can inform actionable pathways for ideological and political education development–upholding foundational principles, transforming methodologies, innovating content, and clarifying objectives–thereby providing both theoretical and practical references for advancing ideological and political education modernization.

Key words: Aristotle, Politics, modernization of ideological and political education
