Abstract: A wild ginger was found and its oil cells were studied by Raman. The Raman spectrum obtained in our laboratory was searched against the Raman spectrum library of the Zingiberaceae oil cells and the matching degree was found to be 94.17% with that of wild Zingiber mioga Rosce collected in Maguan County. Taking into consideration the picture of the wild ginger, it can be concluded that the wild ginger was wild Zingiber mioga Rosce. Its oil cells were studied with Raman spectroscopy and it has been found that the main volatiles in the oil cells of Zingiber mioga Rosce were β-Pinene, Limonene, terpinen-4-ol and β-elemene. As wild Zingiber mioga Rosce is both edible and medicinal, practical suggestions for its development and utilization are accordingly made by the authors.
