Abstract: The emperors of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) enjoyed sacrosanct status and varied diet. After a long period, the Qing palace gradually established its food supply system in which the Ministry of Treasury, the imperial farms, the local officials and the Court Affairs Department all played a part. An examination of the imperial archives finds that these food sources have their own emphasis and have coexisted for a long time to provide guarantee for the production of imperial food. The diversification of the sources of the imperial food in the Qing Dynasty reflects the increasing abundance of the imperial food and the supremacy of imperial power.
Key words: Qing palace, food material, Ministry of Treasury, Court Affairs Department, imperial farm
