On Re-establishment of Difficulty Degree of Verse Composition- Poetic Revelation of the Crescent School

Abstract: To a large extent, the movement advocating free verse in vernacular Chinese lowered the difficulty of verse composition, as it did the artistic quality of new poetry. The Crescent School, on the contrary, advocated metrical verse, a counter-movement against the careless new poetry composition trends by setting requirements on verse composition difficulty, re-establishing poetic styles and standardizing new poetry writing. Poetic revelation of this counter-movement deserves our close attention.
