Abstract: As the psychological perception and subjective evaluation of participation in political life, political efficacy has an important impact on citizens' political participation behavior. Based on the data from the 2021 Comprehensive Survey of Social Conditions in China, this paper analyzes the effects of intrinsic and extrinsic political efficacy on the political expression, political election, and political rights protection behaviors of the current youth groups using a binary logistic regression model. The data analysis shows that if demographic characteristics, family economic level and Internet usage frequency are taken as control variables, intrinsic political efficacy has a significant positive effect on political expression, but not on political election or political rights defence; extrinsic political efficacy has a significant positive effect on political expression and political election, and a significant negative effect on political rights defence. Based on this, the sense of political efficacy of the youth should be further enhanced through strengthening ideological and political education, broadening political participation channels, and improving the government's responsiveness to continuously improve the sense of political efficacy of the youth, expanding the scale of the youth's political participation, and creating a harmonious and orderly atmosphere of political life.
Key words: political culture, youth group, political efficacy, political participation behavior
