Abstract: The Long March was a great expedition to fight for national independence and uphold firm ideals and convictions, and a heroic epic in which brave lives were committed to saving the nation and its people. It was, for the Communist Party of China (CPC), not only a path of practice to unremittingly seek truth for victory of the revolution, not only a great march to rally every effort to save the future of the Party and the Red Army, but more importantly a glorious endeavor to unite the army and the people for the purpose of our freedom and liberation. Created by the Red Army under the leadership of the CPC, the Long March spirit is a precious spiritual legacy bequeathed to us. In the new era, continuing to carry forward the Long March spirit is of great contemporary value for advancing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, waging the great struggle with many new historical features, adapting Marxism to the Chinese context and the needs of our times, advancing the great new project of Party building, and consolidating a solid foundation for the Party’s long-term governance. It is therefore imperative for us to, guided by the great Long March spirit, strengthen our ideals and convictions to embark on a new Long March toward the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and carry forward the spirit of struggle to wage the great struggle with many new historical features. More than following the principle of seeking truth from facts in pursuing innovative development in adapting Marxism to the Chinese context and the needs of our times, and strengthening organizational building in advancing the great new project of Party building, we must at the same time adhere to the Party’s mass line in consolidating a solid foundation for the Party’s long-term governance.
