Abstract: By using the artificial waste-water and intermittent water inflow method, taking activated sludge from aeration tank as inoculated sludge, the aerobic granular sludge was cultivated in sequencing batch reactor (SBR),and then was used to treat pig breeding waste-water.The results showed that aerobic granular sludge could effectively remove COD and ammonia nitrogen from pig breeding waste-water with the average removal rate of about 80% and 91%.The COD and ammonia nitrogen effluent concentrations of the treatment system were better than the index limits in the Pollutant Discharge Standard for Livestock and Poultry Breeding Industry (GB18596-2001).However,the removal efficiency of total phosphorus was not that good as the average removal rate of about 55%.It was recommended that some other chemical phosphorus removal methods be combined with the aerobic granular sludge treatment system in the future,so that the total phosphorus concentration of the treated effluent can also meet the requirement.
