Abstract: To investigate the effects of empathic intervention on the effects of HIIT exercise on fat reduction, negative emotions and exercise habits in overweight/obese college students, 60 overweight and obese college students were selected as experimental subjects, who were divided into two groups (control group and intervention group) on a random basis. Students of the control group completed the scheduled HIIT exercises without any intervention while those of the intervention group adopted intervention during their completion of the exercise program. The study found that after 12 weeks of HIIT training, reduction in weight, BMI and body fat was observed in students of both groups. After the exercise, the SAS and SDS scores of the students of both groups were lower than before the exercise. Scores of the students of the intervention group were significantly lower than those of the students of the control group (P<0.05). According to the comparison of the above scores between students of the two groups during the 3-month voluntary follow-up exercise, significant differences were observed in exercise intensity and exercise time. It can be concluded that exercise with empathic intervention performs better than simple exercise in fat reduction for overweight and obese college students. Moreover, it is also helpful to relieve negative emotions and promote good exercise behavior and habits.
