Abstract: Music education helps develop versatility of a person, which is of pivotal importance for universities striving to produce versatile graduates. To strengthen university music education is, therefore, highly necessary. Departing from cultivation of versatile university students, the author first analyzes the problems existing in university music education nowadays, then proceeds to elaborate on the importance of music education in universities and the social value of diversified development of university music education based on direction of cultivation of versatile talents before finally pointing out the future direction of university music education and suggesting specific measures for its improvement.
