The Conscious Expression of the Sense of Community for the Chinese Nation– On Identity Writing of Wu Shimin’s Novel Killing the Bull to Erect the Monument
    AI Le
    2024, 39(5):  1-8.
    Abstract ( 22 )   PDF (1912KB) ( 13 )
Wu Shimin’s novel Killing the Bull to Erect the Monument is a literary interpretation and self-conscious expression of fostering a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation. The novel presents the history of exchanges, communication and integration among ethnic groups in ancient China, reviews the history of joint struggles of ethnic groups against foreign invasion in modern China, and focuses on the history of the common efforts of all ethnic groups in southwest China to maintain the unity of the motherland. Through these, this novel expresses the consensus that the Chinese history is created by all the ethnic groups. Furthermore, the novel describes the unique custom of “bull spearing” in southwest China, and shows the cultural tradition of “oath swearing” and “monument erecting” shared by all Chinese people. Thus the author expresses the Chinese cultural identity in a number of shared notions such as “every form of beauty has its uniqueness,” “it is precious to appreciate other forms of beauty with openness,” and “if beauty represents itself with diversity and integrity, the world will be blessed with harmony and unity.” This novel also interprets the national identity of “loving China” through the characters’ visit to the National Day military parade, bull spearing, monument erecting and other ceremonies. Meanwhile, the national identity of “sacrificing one’s life for righteousness” is built through the heroic fighting of characters when the national unity is violated and the unity of the motherland is threatened.

    HU Qiaomu, YANG Shunqing
    2024, 39(5):  9-16.
    Abstract ( 21 )   PDF (1810KB) ( 13 )
The modernization of the frontier ethnic areas is an issue of overall, fundamental and strategic importance as it is related to the unity and prosperity of the ethnic groups, the harmony and happiness of the people, and the long-term stability of the country. Frontier ethnic areas are not only an important field for solidifying the consciousness of community for the Chinese nation, but also a forefront to highlight the effectiveness of modernization and ethnic work. Solidifying the consciousness of community for the Chinese nation injects strong spiritual impetus into the modernization of frontier ethnic areas and promoting the modernization of frontier ethnic areas lays a solid foundation for fostering the consciousness of community for the Chinese nation. The two are dialectically inter-structured. Facing the risks of domestic economic development, ethnic issues, social governance and international challenges, we must consolidate the foundation of economic, political, cultural, social and ecological community in a targeted manner, so as to more effectively promote the modernization process of border ethnic areas and solidify the consciousness of community for the Chinese nation, and ultimately realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation that includes the people of all ethnic groups in China.

    ZHANG Wei
    2024, 39(5):  24-32.
    Abstract ( 20 )   PDF (1787KB) ( 8 )
The second combination is an important method and content of Xi Jinping Thought on Culture, which is the key to understanding Xi Jinping Thought on Culture to keep the internal rational path of innovation. Starting from the “second combination”, Xi Jinping Thought on Culture regarding keeping the internal rational path of innovation is based on the historical context and is reflected in the three dimensions of adapting to historical circumstances, adhering to the responsibility of the times, and fulfilling mission responsibilities. It is precisely to meet the need of theoretical consciousness to promote the modernization of Marxism in China, the need to consolidate national security and build an ideological defense line, and the need to expand the path of Chinese modernization with cultural self-confidence and self-improvement that Xi Jinping Thought on Culture seeks to innovate while keeping the internal rational path. To grasp and implement the method of “the second combination” at a new starting point, implement the expansion path of Xi Jinping Thought on Culture integrity and innovation, and ensure the direction, effectiveness and space of the expansion of socialist culture with Chinese characteristics in the new era, it is necessary to adhere to the ideological liberation of “consolidating the basis to build the soul,” stimulate the conscious initiative of “Party-mass integration” and keep in mind the mission of “returning to the original and opening up the new” so as to continue promoting cultural prosperity, building a cultural power, and constructing a modern civilization of the Chinese nation.

Challenges and Breakthroughs in the Ideological Field of Cyberspace in the Era of Digital Intelligence
    MA Zexuan
    2024, 39(5):  61-71.
    Abstract ( 30 )   PDF (1813KB) ( 11 )
Thanks to the fourth science and technology revolution, the transition of technology and intelligence under the perspective of technology has opened up an era of digital intelligence for the development of human society based on the all-media platform and position of cyberspace which has gradually become the main social communication platform for individuals and groups alike outside the real field. In view of this, the empowerment of digital intelligence elements in cyberspace increasingly intensifies the challenges from ideological fields, such as cultural antagonism and nihilism, the infiltration of values and the leadership of mainstream ideology. Facing the overall and fundamental shifts in the field of ideology, we should, first of all, deeply understand and grasp opportunities and challenges regarding the cyberspace ideology. Meanwhile, we should, departing from the characteristics of the intellectual era and the new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics, Xi Jinping Thought on Culture in particular, turn the passive into the active to firmly grasp the ideological leadership, fully consolidate the cultural subjectivity, effectively prevent and resolve the cyberspace ideology challenges, and innovate the cyberspace ideology governance path.

Three-Dimensional Writing Narrative of Red Shaanbei’s Image Shaping– Focusing on the Visits of Chinese, American and Soviet Journalists to Shaanbei before and after the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression
    LIU Xizhe, LIU Xiaohang
    2024, 39(5):  72-84.
    Abstract ( 6 )   PDF (1880KB) ( 0 )
Before and after the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, journalists visiting Shaanbei showed the diverse images of red Shaanbei (northern Shaanxi Province) from their own perspectives. By combing through the writings of American, Chinese, and Soviet journalists Edgar Snow, Chen Xuezhao, and Roman Kálmán on their visits to Shaanbei, it can be found that Snow, Chen and Kálmán were concerned with the independence of the revolution and modernization, the independence of the subject’s personality and life, and the independence of China’s nation-state. These visits were therefore inevitable. By comparing the liberated areas with those controlled by the government of the Republic of China (1912-1949), the journalists not only showed the necessary significance of Shaanbei to the construction of the Chinese nation-state, bust also improved the cognition, reshaped the life, and accumulated the experience in their visits. With international perspectives, the journalists discovered Shaanbei’s efforts to fight for national liberation, escape from otherness, and merge into the world landscape from the perspectives of modern construction, individual dignity, cosmopolitanism and nationhood. Though originating from different experience, their visits presented a diverse but unified face of Shaanbei.

A Human-Machine Community via Transgression: Focusing on Machines Like Me
    WANG Yujing, ZHANG Chunyan
    2024, 39(5):  85-94.
    Abstract ( 7 )   PDF (1876KB) ( 0 )
In Machines Like Me, The digital life represented by Adam and the natural life represented by Charlie cross the threshold of “human and technology” to become an indistinguishable cyber-life since they follow the same laws of existence. The events such as “Charlie reaching out to turn off Adam’s power” illustrate a significant separation between humans and robots in view of bio-politics. The sovereign power possessed by Charlie and the bare life carried by Adam construct two opposites of bio-politics which inevitably lead to the politics of death. Adam’s “suicide,” on the other hand, breaks up the paradox of bio-politics on the issue of life and death, thus realizing the depoliticization of life. The crossing of the threshold implies the generation of a new existence. The author Ian McEwan uses the coexistence and communion as a metaphor for the new possibility of potential and ubiquitous human-machine community to imagine the cyber future.

The “Literary End Theory” under Digital Humanities Technology– Reflections Based on the Literary Ecology of Metaverse
    YAN Xu, MA Xiao
    2024, 39(5):  95-104.
    Abstract ( 11 )   PDF (1847KB) ( 5 )
The metaverse, as a new artistic medium, is an inevitable product of the development of digital humanities technology. With its free and open virtual reality space, new perception methods and immersive interactive experience, it compresses the living space of traditional literature. At the same time, AI writing under digital humanities technology has triggered the reconstruction of literary subjects through human-machine cooperation, which has greatly affected the survival environment of literature and, to some extent, influenced the fate of literature. Behind the development of digital humanities technology exists not only the integration of humanities and technology, but also their sharp conflicts. Observing the new changes in literature after the “end of literature theory” provides an important reference frame for us to reflect on the literary survival in the metaverse era, which has profound practical considerations for the development of future literature.

    Abstract ( 16 )   PDF (1870KB) ( 13 )
Childhood experiences research has been a significant topic in the fields of education and psychology. While research on adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) is relatively mature, studies on positive childhood experiences (PCEs) in China remain scarce. In recent years, international research on PCEs has increased, covering their definition, project construction, theoretical foundations, and their multifaceted impacts on individual development. This paper systematically reviews the progress of PCEs research abroad, explores their positive effects on psychological, physical, and social health, and analyzes the implications for related research and practices in China. By drawing on international research outcomes, this paper aims to provide theoretical and practical references for building a more scientific and comprehensive support system for child development in China.

Discussion on the Theoretical Models of Self-interest Preference and Social Preference
    ZHAO Yunlong, LIU Yongmei
    2024, 39(5):  114-127.
    Abstract ( 8 )   PDF (2072KB) ( 11 )
Exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis was used to verify the double-dimensional bipolar theoretical structural model of self-interest preference and social preference. The double-dimension in the model structure refers to the first-order double factors that constitute the preference matrix: social preference and self-interest preference. The social preference includes three sub-dimensions of altruism preference, reciprocity preference and inequality aversion, and the self-serving preference includes self-interest and rationality. In addition, the survey of 1,143 college students of 12 different disciplines and another 747 subjects of this study from 9 different occupations found that: 1) The group preference of pedagogical students and teachers belongs to the preference of “strong altruism-fairness” and “weak selfishness-rationality”; 2) The preference types of economics majors and banking service professionals belong to the preference of “egoism-rationality” and “weak altruism-fairness”; 3) Medical students and doctors belong to “altruism-reciprocity” preference; 4) Law students and lawyers belong to “reciprocity and fairness” preference; 5) Police and firefighters belong to the “altruistic rational” preference; and 6) Private business owners belong to the “mutual-self-interest” preference. The preferences of other disciplines and occupations were not obvious.

Accommodation and Practice of the Spirit of National Southwest Associated University Viewed through War Interpreters– Taking as Example Lu Shaohua, an Interpreter Requisitioned from the Foreign Languages Department, and His Family Members
    LI Jinlian
    2024, 39(5):  128-139.
    Abstract ( 9 )   PDF (1911KB) ( 5 )
The most valuable experience National Southwest Associated University (NSAU, 1938-46) ever gained was the education for the youth to carry on the tradition of patriotism and carry out the struggle spirit characterized by fearlessness facing sacrifice. As the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression (1931-45) drew to its end, the Chinese government launched the motion to “recruit 100,000 young soldiers to defend every inch of land of our motherland with our blood.” In Kunming, a city in the rear, Lu Shaohua and countless other young students of NSAU, inspired by the spirit of the time of “saving and serving our motherland through education,” answered to the conscription call for war interpreters, joined the army, and went to the front of the Allied China-Myanmar-India War Zone. Work of the interpreters helped cooperation among different parties of the Allied forces in combats and their bravery became a brilliant chapter in the history of higher education, the history of the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the history of the youth movement, leaving to us valuable historical and cultural resources. To flee from the atrocities of the Japanese invaders, Lu Baohua, Lu Shaohua’s mother and a famous writer, wrote a number of touching poems. Her works, too, provide lively examples to demonstrate the spirit of the Chinese shown in the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression.

    2024, 39(5):  147-152.
    Abstract ( 18 )   PDF (1768KB) ( 5 )
In order to implement the educational goal of “cultivating people by virtue” and realize the “win-win cooperation” between families and kindergartens in family education guidance, the two core issues of “nurturing” and “education” of children should be studied first. The construction of a high-quality path for family education guidance in kindergartens needs to first clarify its value and, in light with the difficulties in achieving the goals, fulfilling the main responsibilities and ensuring implementation, take the following measures: 1) establishing a sound institutional framework and standardizing the supervision and inspection system; 2) improving kindergarten curriculum and cultural construction to ensure deep immersion of the parents; 3) establishing a practical model for guiding family education in kindergartens; 4) improving the Professional Ability of Kindergarten Teachers in Family Education Guidance; and 5) collaborating with the community and various social institutions to improve the quality of guidance services.
